Baba Ramdev in Jamnagar, Gujrat

On 3rd September 2010 Baba Ramdev visited Jamnagar to address the locals. He gave a motivating speech focusing on the problems Bharat is facing which might lead to huge problems in near future if proper action is not taken quickly.

Problems elaborated by Baba Ramdev:

1. National security – Neighbouring countries are conspiring against us, our borders are not even sealed properly leave alone safety. Internal security is in the worst possible condition – Naxalites and Maoists are eating up the nation from inside. Apart from this the government is a big time failure unable to control these problems and instead pointing fingers are saints and sanyaasis with terms like ‘Bhagua aatankwaad’ – ‘Saffron terrorists’.

Cancel agreement with GATT and all such international agreements

At present our country has become virtually slave of World Trade Organization (WTO). We should immediately cancel the agreement with WTO and we should immediately terminate the membership of WTO. Aazadi Bachao Andolan considers this matter of top most priority and of emergency importance. To become the member of WTO is synonymous and same as to become slave of WTO. Once we become the member of WTO, we become the slave of WTO. As soon as we become the member of WTO, we have ceased to be sovereign country because then our Government is nothing more than dancing doll as per the desire of WTO. Bills and laws to sell out the country are passed in our Parliament openly. The Government has already changed the Patent Act to facilitate the multinational companies to exploit the entire country as per their desire. Our Patent Act was safeguarding the interests of our people. Because of our Patent Act, prices of medicines in our country were lowermost throughout the world. The prices of the medicines in our country were so much low that a specific medicine which is available at the rate of Rs. 20 to 25 in foreign countries, it was available at only one Rupee in India. In spite of this much low prices of medicines, we made a tremendous progress in producing medicines and drug industry in last 30 years. Before 30 years, our annual production of medicines was worth Rs. 70 crores which increased in last 30 years upto annual production of 14000 crores. Medicine manufacturing units increased upto 80000 units in which lakhs of people are working. Though prices of medicines are very low, quality of the medicines is so much high that they are able to export medicines worth Rs. 2000 crores every year.

No export of any item until it is surplus in the country

Production should be need based in the village. Every village should plan to produce their requirement of cloth, edible oil, soap, shoes through modern but simple technology. So first of all, need of the villages and towns should be satisfied and only excess production should go out of the village. Similarly, after satisfying needs of the entire country, only excess production should be exported. But everything is reverse at present. The people of country are suffering from hunger on one hand and best quality fruits, best quality basmati rice and best quality food items are exported. It has no any relation with the need of the country. This is not tolerable at all. Commodities produced in the country must be for the people of the country. After consumption of the entire country, if there is excess production, then only it should go for export. This is real economy.

Decentralization of heavy industries

It is bad luck of our country that our industries have been heavily centralized. Entire textile industry of India has been centralized into 700 spinning mills through which huge amount of 40000 crores of rupees is exploited. In fact, this industry should be decentralized into every home and every village through modern tiny machines and its benefit should reach to the millions of people. Cotton is produced in every village and cloth is consumed in every village. So cloth should be produced from cotton in every home and every village. If this is done, then only wealth in villages can increase and unemployment can decrease. Just before 150 years, there was not a single textile mill in India. At that time cloth was produced in every house simply by hand. Today, we have electricity. So to decentralize this industry into every home by utilizing electricity is immediate and essential requirement of today.

Bring back black money lying in Swiss banks and other foreign banks

Dishonest industrialists, scandalous politicians and corrupt officers have deposited in their illegal personal accounts the huge sum of about US$ 1000 Billion which have been misappropriated by them creating scandals and by corruption. This amount is about 13 times larger than foreign debt. This amount is such a big amount that from it 45 crores of poor people can get Rs. 100000/- each. This huge amount has been collected really from the people of India by exploiting the people of India and by betraying people of India. So really this entire amount belongs to the people of India. So all such property kept in to Foreign Banks must be declared as National property and it should be brought back in India. And for keeping such property in foreign banks illegally, all dishonest industrialists and merchants, scandalous politicians and corrupt officers must be punished at least for 10 years imprisonment to capital punishment. The function of delcaring such property lying in to foreign banks illegally as the national property can be done in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha only by making law. Government will not do this such law until there is heavy pressure on the Government from every corner of the country to make such law because those who have collected such illegal money and kept into foreign banks are themselves sitting in the parliament and in the Government. However, any autocrate Government has to yield to the heavy pressure of public opinion. Azadi Bachao Andolan is actively endeavouring to create such heavy pressure of public opinion to make such law. Once general public can understand the necessity of such law the best opportunity to create heavy pressure on Government is always at the time of elections.

Abolish the taxes of slavery such as Central excise, Sales tax, Octroi, etc

Certainly these are the taxes of slavery. If any person establishes a small factory, produces goods, generates employment, generates wealth etc, certainly this is desirable. Country becomes stronger and people become happy with such activities. But English people did not like it because they wanted to sell in India the goods produced in England and thus they wanted to accumulate wealth and take it to England. So they did not want any manufacturing activity in India. So they imposed heavy tax and severe insultive restrictions to stop manufacturing activity in India. This tax is called Central Excise. Gandhiji marched from Sabarmati Ashram to Dandi and exercised Satyagrah to produce salt. This was done to break this Central Excise Act. But unfortunately, all the Governments after independence imposed heavy Central Excise on each and every item of manufacturing and consequently Government has tightly bound the entire country into jaws of slavery. So it is clear that Government ruling the country is not the Government of the people but it is the Government working for the interests of foreign vested interests. Similarly, political and administrative structure is not working in the interest of people of India. But the entire structure of administration has been erected for protecting British rule in India and to subject the people of India. So it is extremely essential to destroy this structure and erect new structure suitable for our country. So Azadi Bachao Andolan envisages to abolish all the taxes such a Central Excise, Sales Tax, Octroi etc.
